The Social Network

Rating: 7
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake
Genre: Drama

Mark Zuckerberg is now a 26-year-old billionaire who has turned Facebook into an internet marvel that claims 500 million subscribers. He is portrayed by Eisenberg as an unlikeable Harvard undergrad with tunnel vision who lets nothing get in his way of maoving his new company forward. (Obviously, Zuckerberg cannot be too pleased with this portrayal.) The story is told around a series of hearings based on charges brought by a pair of brothers, fellow Harvard students that claim Zuckerberg stole their original idea. Critics have identified several factual errors as well as some things that are quite true. But, as screenwriter Aaron Sorkin said, "What is the big deal about accuracy purely for accuracy's sake?"

A commentary in the Wall Street Journal, as might be expected, suggests that the film is something of a hatchet job on innovative genius in general. Nevertheless, it's a fascinating story well told.
