The reviews range widely on this one. The idea is intriguing – a parody of the usual muscular cop movie. Ferrell is a desk-bound member of a macho precinct who gets thrown into a Wall Street white collar crime that turns violent. He is teamed up with Wahlberg who is desperate for action after having been sidelined for accidentally shooting Yankee star Derek Jeter. The chemistry between Wahlberg & Ferrell works well. While there is a lot of subtle humor, much of the movie is over the top in typical Ferrell fashion.
Its best top not try to follow the complex circularity of the actions of the Wall Street miscreant. Just relax and focus on the foibles of the two mismatched cops. But all in all, it gets a bit tiresome.
