Eat, Pray, Love

Rating: 6
Starring: Julia Roberts, Javier Bardem, Richard Jenkins
Genre: Mature audience, drama
Time: 2:13

The critics were mostly unkind to this one. I initially passed on it, but went to see it simply because there was nothing else that seemed worthwhile. Thus my expectations were pretty low. Julia Roberts is a successful author who exits an “unfulfilling” marriage, spends a few bouts of passion with a younger man before setting out on a journey of self-discovery. Her odyssey takes her to Italy (where she pigs out on great food),to India (where she mediates) and to Bali (looking for true love.)

One positive of the movie is the role played by the ubiquitous Richard Jenkins, who provides Julia with some ballast while in India. In the final analysis, it was a bit better than expected, though lacking much substance.
