Play the Game

Rating: 9
Time: 1:45
Starring: Andy Griffith, Daris Roberts
Genre: Mature Audience, Comedy

One of the best comedies I've seen in a long time. Griffith is a lonely widower. His young grandson, who considers himself a "player," decides to teach him the tricks of his trade-namely, how to meet women. He succeeds so well that Griffith becomes a "wild stallion that needs to roam." The tables are turned when the grandson falls in love and is rejected, while Griffith plays the field at the retirement center. This story line could have been handled in a typical Hollywood fashion with lots of crude, elbow-in-the-ribs humor, but it wasn't, and the ending has a delightful twist. The movie recieved no advanced hype, and it's probably in limited distribution. It might not have much appeal to the 18-34 demographic. But for one who was a fan of the famous sheriff of Mayberry, it was a great way to spend an hour and 45 minutes.
