Genre: Adult Drama
This was not an easy movie for me to review, mostly because I didn't think it was very good. The story revolves around a conflicted young man (La Beauf) who has found success in the New York investment world. He intends to marry a young woman (Mulligan) who is the estranged daughter of the infamous Gordon Gekko (Douglas), who spend time in the slammer for his malicious financial deeds of the late 1980s. Not it's the time of the recent financial meltdown and La Beouf's character is intent on reaching a conciliation of father and daughter.
Brolin is cast in the role of a no-holds-barred bad guy as the head of an investment banking firm. At first, Gekko appears to be a reformed crusader for integrity in the financial world, the whole plot is messay. maybe I went to this movie expecting not to like it because a little bit of director Oliver Stone goes a long way with me.
