Everybody’s Fine

Rating: 8
Genre: Drama, Mature Audience
Starring: Robert DeNiro, Kate Beckinsale, Drew Barrymore, Sam Rockwell

DeNiro is a retired industrial worker whose wife has died within the past year. He has not seen any of his four adult children since the funeral. So he decides to drop in unannounced on each of them, travelling to new York city, Chicago, Denver and Las Vegas by train and bus. Not really a great idea, especially since he suffers from heart trouble. More importantly, though, it seems Dad has never been able to connect well with any of them, and when they meet, none are able to level with him about their lives. The big over hanging mystery is the whereabouts of the son he is unable to locate, and the other three are unwilling to talk about him. DeNiro gives his usual winning performance, and the others do their roles well. The movie is worth seeing although it didn’t get high marks from some critics.
