The Iron Lady

Rating: 6
Genre: Drama
Starring: Meryl Streep, Jim Broadbent
Time: 1:45

The movie is more of a showcase for the acting prowess of Streep than it is about the prime ministership of Margaret Thatcher, who brought Great Britain out of the economic malaise of socialism and whose strong conservative positioning proved important in ending the Cold War. Her story is told through a series of flashbacks from the Iron Lady's present state of dementia (she is now 86) as she recalls events from her days as a determined young woman through her political career. To focus on her dementia was awkward and pointless. It all seemed somewhat demeaning to such a great lady.
