Rating: 8
Starring: Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Bill Murray
Genre: Drama
Duvall is a reclusive character who has lived alone outside a small Southern town for 40 years. He has posted “No Trespassing” signs, and carries around his shotgun to show he means business. Stories about his mysterious past have circulated around town for years. He decides he wants to hold a funeral party while he is still alive & invites the townspeople to stand up & tell what they have heard about him. Murray is the local undertaker who helps plan the “party”. Spacek comes back to town and she knows some things about his dark side. Murray lends some comic relief, but the movie is more poignant drama than comedy. The veteran Duvall is in top form. This is one of the best movies in recent months.
