Milk

Rating: 8

Starring: Sean Penn, Allison Pill, Josh Brolin, James Franco

Genre: Adult Drama

After several attempts, gay activist Harvey Milk is elected to the San Francisco board of supervisors in 1975. He helps lead the campaign that defeats a state-wide ballot iniative to keep gays out of the school classrooms. Shortly thereafter, both Milk and Mayor George Moscone are assassinated by a disgruntled former board member. The movie highlights Milk's natural political skills as well as his courageous and unrelenting battle for national recognition of homosexual rights. No matter what your attitude may be on the subject, this is an excellent movie and I suspect Penn will receive serious consideration for various awards.
