Starring: Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard, Robin Givens, Sanra Lathan
Genre: Adult Comedy/Drama
The local paper listed this movie as "unreviewed" and nowhere else could I find any critical comments. So my question is: How could such an enjoyable, well told story fall into the cracks? Bates and Woodard are friends of long standing and their friendship is genuine. Their cross-country trip in Bates' new convertible contains many humorous incidents. But the movie's real plot revolves around Bates' son who is trying to depose her from the head of the family corporation.
Things get pretty interesting since he is having an affair with Woodard's ambitious daughter. Race could have been exploited, but never did it rear its ugly head. This is a real "sleeper." My hope is that word of mouth will propel it to box office success, but the title is a bit awkward.
