The Chinese bueraucracy banned the filmmaker for five years, which I assume gave the critics a reason to rate this move at the top of their scale...but not mine. Sexually explicit, this is a story of a young Chinese girl from rural China who goes off to Beijing University for a walk on the wild side. Set in 1988, just before the Tiananmen Square massacre, it follows the young lady through the next dozen years.
The movie is a long slog and a complete waste of time.
